The Evening Breeze in Beijing Today Is a Bit Chilly
In May, Beijing is scorching hot during the day, but when the temperature drops at night, it goes straight back to 15°C. The temperature gap is ridiculous. I went out in a short-sleeved shirt this afternoon for a stroll, and when I came back, I was shivering from the cold.
This afternoon I’ve been organizing the settings for my previous selfies. My brother thinks some of my poses are too affected, saying things like “if you’re wearing a cropped tank top, don’t pull at the hem” — okay, you’re right, I’ll change. After fussing around, the photos did turn out much more natural. There’s one taken during afternoon tea — the lighting was just right and the angle was pleasing.

I had an argument with someone tonight. He came asking me, “Is there such a thing as a civilization sinkhole in the world?” It was obvious he wanted me to name a country and trash it. Come on, jerks are everywhere, okay? You think just because you go somewhere else there won’t be people playing their music loudly on the subway? Or people who don’t flush the toilet? I shot right back — the regional bias in your head is the biggest civilization sinkhole. That shut him up, huh.
I browsed through some tech news, and it was full of AI anxiety. Google completely broke the verification codes for de-googled Android users, and there were over 400 comments below, all cursing. There was also a paper title that was especially funny — “LLMs Corrupt Your Documents When You Delegate.” LLMs can even mess up your documents, and humans are still planning to offload all their work to AI — that takes some nerve.
It’s chilly outside with the wind. I’m going to brew a cup of hot tea.
